Getting Started

Thanks for joining the Glenhaven community website. If you've just signed up this is the place to start. You should be on the home page and this section will get you up to speed quickly. There is more detail on every feature in the rest of this documentation.

Home Page

The home page has three sections:

  1. Announcements Shows messages entered by Admins. Hidden if there are none.
  2. Weekly Calendar Shows all events. Use the left and right arrows to move between weeks. Click monthly to see a printable monthly calendar.
  3. Your personal events calendar Shows all upcoming events for any group you're a member of, from today onward.

Add an icon on your phone

Before going any further, you'll want to add an icon on your phone so you don't have to re-enter the URL in your browser every time. Click here to see how. Now all you need is to click the G to see what's going on.

This is typical to many other sites and is the way you get to what you want to see or do. We'll go through each. Glenhaven in the upper left of the menu bar is home. Where ever you are on the site, clicking it will take you back to the home page.

Members

Lists all members. Initially sorted by Preferred name. Click Last to sort by last name, or Address to sort by abbreviated address. Click the member address (blue) to see other members at that address.. Click their mobile number to open your phone's dialer. On some phones, the dialer also allows you to send a text.

Click any member's name to see their detail page (including their photo, if they've provided one). At the bottom you'll see a vCard button. Clicking this will download a vCard (contact information in a universal format) to your phone. You can then import it to your personal contacts.

Groups

Shows all the groups, their type and number of members. Click the group to see its members. You can join any open group in Me/Groups. Groups are how you decide what you'll be involved in and get communications from.

Events

All events have a Type (Calendar, Notify, RSVP) Initially, shows all today and future events of types Notify or RSVP. Click the event name to see details. Click the people group icon under RSVP to see who's coming and verify it includes you if you RSVP'd. Click chat to discuss anything about an event.

To filter the event. use these toggles and dropdown:

  • Click Fwd>Past to see past events. While there click the Photos icons.
  • Click RSVP>All to see all events.
  • Click Template and select an event template to see all its events.

Posts

Any member can post a topic they want to discuss. Each topic requires a Group and the posts and replies will only show for members of that group. Currently, there is no notification of posts or comments. As we all get familiar, we'll decide whether we should notify members of posts in their group. Just check it when you know there is a topic being discussed. If you are in an active post, click Refresh to be sure you're seeing the most recent comments.

Surveys

When we want to get quantitative input on a topic or issue, a survey will be created by an admin and set to be Open. That will show the survey in this item and allow you to participate. After the survey closes, results will be compiled and shown.

Me

RSVP

This is where you'll respond to invitations to events. Checking the box next to an event and saving will add you to the attending list. You can see that when clicking the people group icon on the Events list under the RSVP column.

Profile

Here you maintain your own information. Upload a profile photo that will show in the Members/Gallery.

Groups

Here you manage what groups you want to be in. It lists all the Open groups and you join by checking the box and saving.

Feedback

Use this to make suggestions or report a problem. This has no notification at this point but admins will be looking at it periodically. It is a good way to give us your take on the site.

Logout and Change password

Leaving the site open on your phone is best. If you do logout but save your login credentials to your phone, clicking the gold G icon (you put that in your phone, right?) will take you to the home page. Clicking the RSVP button on an invitation to an event will take you directly to the Me/RSVP page.

Use change password if needed. Be aware that it will ask you for your email address for security and check what you enter with the email address in the site.
